NUALS Library

The NUALS library has a collection of over 17,738 books covering a wide range of general and special subjects consisting of textbooks reference books, back volumes of journals, reports etc. The library subscribes to several leading law journals, both Indian and foreign and also a number of newspapers and magazines. It has acquired the complete set of leading law reports like All England Law Reports, Supreme Court Cases, All India Reporter, Criminal Law Journal, Kerala Law Times. The library has also been enriched by donations from renowned personalities like Hon’ble Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, Sri.T.P. Kelu Nambiar, Senior Advocate, High Court of Kerala, Late Achuthan Unni (Retd. District Judge), Dr. P. Leelakrishnan, Adv. K.R. Sadasivan Nair and Sri. P Shankaran Unni (Retd. District Judge)

The library also has a sizeable collection of electronic materials in CD-ROMs, All India Reporter – Supreme Court & High Courts, Kerala Law Times etc.) and online legal databases such as Westlaw, Hein Online & Manupatra Online, Lexis Nexis, J Store, SCC online etc..

The library is Wi-Fi enabled allowing the students and faculties to access the internet and online databases on their own laptops. Other facilities like printing and photocopying are available within the library.

All the bonafide members of the University are entitled to library membership.

The Library of NUALS offers Temporary Membership to Research Scholars of the other institution on a request submitted in the prescribed application form.

Personal ID and proof of address

In order to become a Temporary Member of the NUALS library, you will need to show a form of personal identification (ID) and proof of address on your visit. We accept any combination of the following:

  • Official photo identity card from a recognised place of work or study
  • Aadhar Card/Driving Licence/Election ID Card
Temporary Members will be able to use the following services during library hours:
  1. Reference
  2. Using the print resources of the library
  3. Photocopying service (on payment basis)
  4. Internet access to electronic resources will be available.

Loss of ID CARD/ Borrow’s Ticket

In case of lost Borrower’s Ticket or Identity Card, the matter should be informed to the Circulation Section and fill the Card Lost form. A fine of Rs.100 for each Borrower’s Ticket lost and Rs.250 for Identity Card will be levied. After clearing the liabilities new Borrowers Ticket and Identity Card will be issued.

Loss of Books

A book lost by the member shall be replaced with the latest edition or, the borrower will pay the current price of the book. In case the current price of the book cannot be verified from any standard bibliographic source, then the recorded price of the book shall be payable.

No-Dues Certificate

Before commencement of final year/semester examination or terminating the connection with the university in mid-session for any reason, every member has to return the library identity card and clear all dues, if any and obtain a No-Dues Certificate. Research students will obtain No-Dues Certificate from the library before the submission of the dissertation/theses.
